Baker Sanitary Service was started under the original banner of Baker Valley Enterprises, Inc in 1962 by the late Richard Mark.  Baker Valley Enterprises, Inc. primarily dealt with solid waste disposal services in the Baker Valley, but also included such things as backhoe excavating, portable toilets, septic tank pumping, pole building construction, and even snowmobile and motorcycle sales.  Byron Henry, son-in-law to the founder, assumed ownership in 1970 when Richard Mark passed away from an unexpected heart attack at fifty-one years of age.  Byron continued to expand the business by adding several auto parts stores and heavy equipment sales businesses under the corporate name in the mid to late seventies.  In 1986 the solid and liquid waste divisions were sold to Byron’s son Loren Henry and a new corporation was established, Baker Sanitary Service, Inc. (BSS).

BSS has made major improvements in office computerization, landfill operations, expanded recycling opportunities, and automated trash pick-up.  Its mission statement has been “to provide a quality service at a reasonable price.”  We try to meet the expectations of the local community while still running a successful and enjoyable working environment.  BSS has a long history of being a progressive company that runs a very clean and organized business.  We intend to continue seeking out new ways to meet the growing demands of the community and the waste industry.
